An “ARTS AND CRAFTS WORKSHOP” was organized by the Department of Education on 24th November 2018 to facilitate the integrated B.Ed programme students to gain awareness about various art forms like Pencil shading, , Origami, Painting, Craft work, Model making with papers and cardboards, Recycling waste materials to art products etc.
Art, craft and designing stimulates creativity and imagination. It provides visual, tactile and sensory experiences and paves a special way of understanding and responding to the world. It enables students to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes.
To get hands on experience to make teaching aids, tools and models a practice session was organized on 25.01.2019.
The students were made to do paper art-Origami and pencil shading.
Using origami as tool they made models of kidney, heart, DNA structure, globe model etc to name a few.
In another session they were given practice in various craft work.Students have learnt ample creative methods of making teaching aids and enjoyed the session thoroughly.
On 1st October 2018 the staff and students of Mount Carmel College, Bangalore took an initiative to contribute positively towards Swachh Bharat Mission. A mission that aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India’s cities, towns and rural areas. There couldn’t be any better way to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme commenced at 9.30am at the college campus. The Principal Dr. Sister Arpana , Vice Principal Dr. Charmaine Jerome, B.Ed. Coordinator Dr. Shanti along with the staff and students were dressed in khadi. The programme began with an introductory speech by Ms. Irene, a student of B.Sc B.ed. Dr Kamal Harnal from the department of Hindi addressed the gathering and anchored the event. A song was presented by the B.Sc B.ed students- Ms Angel and Ms Sneha.
An oath was administered by the Vice Principal and the staff and students pledged to keep the country clean. It was followed by another song by the staff and thereafter the entire staff and students fully equipped with masks and brooms went around cleaning the college surroundings with zeal and enthusiasm as a part of Swachhata Drive. Sweets were distributed towards the end and the entire ceremony culminated leaving a feeling of deep sense of accomplishment and commitment.
