Anti-Ragging Cell

Ragging is a punishable offence. The offence of Ragging is not only punishable under sec. 116 of the Karnataka Education Act, but also under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

  • Ragging is a social menace and is strictly prohibited in the college, hostels, playground and other premises of the college.
  • Ragging is a systematized form of Human Rights abuse.
  • Extreme harassment, creating terror in the minds, and even physical torture of fresh students in the guise of “Campus Orientation” and “College tradition” is called ragging.

Students involved in such obnoxious practices will be liable for rustication, dismissal and expulsion from the college, in addition to prosecution before the criminal courts. Ragging offences may also be stamped on Academic transcripts & Marks Cards. We hold a Zero tolerance policy against ragging of any sort.

Anti-Ragging Committee:

If you are a victim or a witness to a ragging incident, you must immediately report the incident to the authorities/ a member of the Anti-Ragging Committee / Faculty Members.

Committee Against Sexual Harassment(CASH)

Sexual Harassment is a punishable offence. At Mount Carmel College, we have Zero tolerance towards harassment of any kind.

What to do in case of an incident?

Report the incident to your superior, the Head of the Department or register a complaint with the ‘Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH)’

A complaint of discrimination or sexual harassment may be lodged by the victim or a third party. A written complaint may be addressed to the Coordinator of the Committee/or the Committee member.

The Committee deals with issues relating to sexual harassment at Mount Carmel College. It is applicable to all students, staff and faculty.

A representative list of “Unwelcome” acts that can be seen as a sexual harassment:

  • Physical contact and advances
  • Demand or request for sexual favours
  • Sexually coloured remarks
  • Showing pornography
  • Other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature. (Vaisakha judgment by Supreme Court)

Harassment is legally defined as inappropriate conduct/discrimination based on:

  • Gender
  • Color
  • National Origin
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Citizenship
  • Disability

Cyber Bullying Redressal Committee

The committee redresses anti-social activities carried out by means of computers or internet.

The objective of the committee is to coordinate various efforts pertaining to Cyber Crime prevention and regulation on campus.

CONFIDENTIALITY WILL BE MAINTAINED

The government of India enacted special regulation to curb bullying at higher education institutions– “UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Education Institutions, 2009”. A student may also have criminal liability under different sections of the criminal procedure code of India.

STOP CYBER BULLYING!!!

Students involved in such obnoxious practices will be liable for rustication, dismissal and expulsion from college in addition to prosecution before the criminal courts.

Anti Drug Cell

The excessive use of narcotics within and outside Educational Institutions has become a serious concern nowadays. Drug dealers target students both as carriers as well as clients. The cell aims at working to eradicate this menace by arranging awareness programs to make the students aware of the strong legal force working against narcotics and inculcate respect towards and the Indian judiciary.
