Eligibility Criteria
- Students opting for Statistics as one of the core subjects in BSc (Economics, Statistics) should have studied Mathematics/ Business Mathematics/ Basic mathematics/ General Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics in their class 12 exams and scored at least 60% marks in the same.
- Students opting for Statistics as one of the core subjects in BSc (Economics, Statistics) who have studied Statistics (With no Mathematics Paper) in their class 12 exams and scored at least 75% marks in the same.
Program Outcomes
The Course provides, PO1: The foundation and motivation for exposure to statistical ideas. The students will acquire the ability to understand and apply theoretical knowledge to solve a wide range of problems. PO2: The students with the versatility to work effectively in a broad range of analytic, scientific, government, financial, health, technical and other positions. PO3: The skill to apply appropriate statistical methods and computing tools to carry out data analysis. PO4: Provide specific knowledge of relevant mathematical, statistical and econometric methods and the ability to employ specific econometric model. PO5: Equip students with skills to comprehend, analyse and evaluate economic situations by applying theoretical and practical knowledge. - Student must opt for one of the discipline as major in the fourth year.
- Only those students who secure 75% marks or CGPA of 7.5 and above in the first six semesters may choose to undertake research in the 4th year. Honours students not undertaking research have to do 3 to 4 Additional Courses/Entrepreneurship Courses and Internship/Apprenticeship for 12 credits.
- Students who complete the four year program with Research will be awarded B.Sc. (Honours with Research) in Statistics with Economics as minor / in Economics with Statistics as minor & students not undertaking research will be awarded B.Sc. (Honours) Statistics with Economics as minor / in Economics with Statistics as minor.
