  • To develop academic and research orientation among the students, shaping biotechnology into a premier precision tool for the future and ensure that it is used for human welfare.


  • To inculcate knowledge and understanding of biotechnology as one of the greatest intellectual enterprises of humankind, utilizing them to the advantage of humanity.
  • To provide hands -on training in instrumentation and techniques through scheduled laboratory procedures , experiments and in-house research projects
  • To organize training programs in advanced techniques for students
  • To organize visits to laboratories and industries of national repute to familiarise students with current research technologies
  • To provide research projects to students and guide them to address and focus more on societal needs
  • To mould the students for a career in R & D
  • To improve the physical infrastructure by improvising the existing equipment’s and providing the required facilities
  • To provide knowledge resources to build up the academic excellence for students and teachers
  • To Provide entrepreneurship programs as part of the curriculum

Department Seminars and Conferences:

  • CHANGING TRENDS IN BIOTECHNOLOGY… THEN, NOW AND FUTURE conducted on 1 AUGUST 2012, a State Level One Day Seminar.
  • Two day workshop on “Recombinant DNA Technology” in association with Credora Life Sciences on 8th August 2014. The objective of this workshop was to give a practical exposure of the same.
  • Guest Lecture on “ Immune Response Warrants understanding to the life of an organism” by, Dr. Imroze Khan, NCBS
  • UG students successfully completed one day training programme at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru on Mushroom Cultivation held on 28th August 2014.
  • Exhibited a model on “bio-sensors” during the science fest, with an intention to make people aware of the new techniques in biotechnology for determining the soil quality.
  • BSc students in association with the BBMP participated in an event called “Go Green”, where they planted seeds and plantlets.
