Mount Carmel College was founded in 1944 by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa. An Autonomous College since September 2005, MCC was first accredited at the 5 Star Level in 1999 and re-accredited with A+ in the fourth cycle of accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In 2006 University Grants Commission identified the college as a “College with Potential for Excellence” (CPE). The Institution is consistently ranked among the top 20 colleges in India. The College offers over 60 Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate Programs in Humanities, Science, Applied Science & Design, Computer Applications, Commerce and Management Studies. Today the college caters to the academic aspiration of over 9000 students.
School of Commerce
The School of Commerce was started in the year 1980 and presently offers Eight UG programs, three PG programs and a PhD program. The School of Commerce is known for its pragmatic approach towards education. The courses offered by the department strike a balance between theoretical and practical understanding of subjects. Programs are well designed to create enthusiastic, energetic, motivated, and proficient graduates in areas of commerce, trade and industry. The Department conducts Intra and inter-college business fests, and various other academic activities to improve the knowledge and exposure of the students to keep up with the dynamic environment. We provide holistic value-based education nurturing the students for their personal and professional development.
“Driving Sustainable Commerce: Industry and Innovation Integration towards achieving SDG – 9.” SDG-9, or Sustainable Development Goal 9, focuses on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation. To achieve SDG-9, it is crucial to drive sustainable commerce by integrating industry and innovation. This integration can be achieved through various strategies and initiatives:
- Promoting sustainable industrial practices, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and adopting circular economy principles, can minimize environmental impact, supported by governmental policies.
- Encouraging collaboration and partnerships between industries, governments, and stakeholders is essential for achieving sustainable development goals.
- Fostering skills development and education in renewable energy, green technologies, and sustainable business practices can empower individuals.
- Creating enabling policy frameworks, such as tax incentives and eco-friendly regulations, is pivotal for supporting sustainable commerce and innovation.
