MCC is a leading college in India which, since 1948, is working towards the cause of “Empowering through Education”. Owned and managed by the Carmelite Sisters of St.Teresa (CSST), the college offers 65 undergraduate and 21 post graduate programmes and doctoral programmes in 6 subjects. MCC has successfully completed 4 rounds of accreditation and was awarded “A+” grade in the last round.
Established in 1948, the Department of Economics is at the threshold of its Platinum Jubilee along with the post-independent Economy and the Institution. The prime objective of the department is to give a sound foundation in economic theory and applications, which would enable the students to apply their knowledge to decode real world economic problems. The Department aims to facilitate and equip students to be future agents of change in spaces of research, policy making, analytics, advisory, consultancy services and much more.
Post independent economy has been on a remarkable development journey, transition from low income nation to an emerging nation is a home for 1.3 billion people and nearly a 3$ trillion economy. We are marking Amrit Mahotsav and have embarked into Amrit Kaal; the economy has seen transformation from ‘Garibhi Hatao’ to ‘Digital India’ today. The economy has encrypted Nationalisation to Disinvestment, witnessed Green and White revolutions, experienced the structural change of 1990s, along with Global Crises, yet has registered resilient growth.
India becomes the world’s fifth largest economy according to IMF World Economic Outllook with a GDP of 2.94 trillion dollars. The current year Budget targets economy’s GDP to a 5 trillion economy by 2024 relying through big push on saving, investment and exports.
In this background, the conference aims to take a relook at the economy’s progress in the last seven and a half decades and would focus on the prospective path for the ensuing two and a half decades, hitting at how the economy would progress at the threshold of India at 100.
We invite original research papers, case studies and scholarly articles which have high quality work that focuses on research, development and application in the aforesaid area.
