About the Program

B.Com. General is a bachelor degree program in commerce. The main objective of the program is to create professionals who are well-versed in the field of commerce and have a strong foundation level understanding of the functioning of business organizations, commercial transactions and various specialized operations such as accounting, finance, marketing and human resource by offering a comprehensive curriculum. As this program will stand to be their foundation, we strive to equip our students with the necessary skill-sets and knowledge to transform into dynamic professionals prepared to work in any business environment. Our rigorous curriculum, facilitated by eminent faculty ensures that our students acquire knowledge of quantitative techniques as well as a thorough understanding of the field and demands to be met. Graduates of this degree will be able to demonstrate their skills in Accounting, Auditing, E-commerce, Finance, Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour. The Curricular and Extracurricular activities are designed in a way to ensure that the students receive a holistic understanding through the curriculum.
Please note that the department now offers Dual Specialization.

  • To give an insight into the various functional areas of Business.
  • To impart certain skills that will be useful in taking decisions and managing Business.
  • To provide a global view of the macro environment influencing business decisions.
  • To develop students’ personalities and make them responsible citizens who have a greater awareness about Business, and Society & Ethics in Business.
  • To ensure that the students are up-to-date with technology and have acquired the required computer skills to participate in the program and function as professionals of the field.

Program Specifications

Eligibility

Students who have completed two years in the Pre-University Course of Karnataka or have an equivalent are eligible to seek admission to the B.Com. Degree program. Students must have studied at least two subjects in commerce to qualify for the program.

Duration of the Program

The course of study for the B.Com. General Degree shall extend over a period of three academic years consisting of six semesters.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of Instruction and Examination shall be in English.

Credit Course

Every student is required to take up credit courses as prescribed by the college.
