MOUNT CARMEL COLLEGE

The Economics Department is as old as the college itself, way back in 1948. The P.G. Course started in 2005 and is about a decade old. And we are following the Choice-based Credit system from 2014 onwards – wherein, the course-work comprises of Core, Allied, Elective and Soft-skill based Courses.

  • 22nd November: Prof. IndradeepGhosh, Faculty Dean, Associate Professor of Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics, Mumbai. He addressed the students on functioning of Financial Market.
  • 5th January: Guest Lecture on ‘Effects of Finance on Economy’ by Prof.SheriMarkose, University of Essex, United Kingdom

One day Seminar on Vision 2025: Karnataka, Unraveling the Challenges and Prospects:

  • Dept of Economics is conducting Vision 2025: Karnataka in association with Dialogue on 24th January 2018.
  • Chief Guest: Smt. Renuka Chidambaram, IAS Officer, (Principal Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, Government of Karnataka.
  • 11th& 12th February 2017: International Conference TEJ- “Asia’s Tourism Potential – Path To Economic Development”
  • 28th Feb 2017 : Bengaluru Next- Revive Redesign and Restore- A workshop in association with Namma Bengaluru Foundation
  • 2nd August 2016 – US Elections Craig Dicker Minister Counselor, Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi .
  • Department of Economics conducted ‘Workshop on Goods and Services Tax’on 18th July, 2016. Students and Faculties of MCC and other colleges took part in this workshop.
  • September 2016& 2017 : Aalankrita- Marketing Exhibition for NGOs conducted by final year Economics students
