Certificate of Best Green Campus Award
District Green Campion
The college campus is green and highly eco-friendly in nature. Several environmental resource management measures have been implemented and “being green” is a part of Mount Carmel College Culture.
Waste bins that have been placed at strategic locations throughout the college campus are separated into food, paper and plastic. The paper and plastic garbage is sent out for recycling, and the food is dumped into a compost pit.
The compost pits are located behind the college buildings, where easily biodegradable garbage (such as food and leaves) are dumped. Here, food that has been thrown away as well as leaves that are swept from the college campus are collected to provide nutrition to the soil.
The college has rainwater harvesting pits, to prevent water from going to waste during periods of rainfall. These are placed at various locations on the college campus, and are properly covered to avoid having stagnant water in the open.
We have integrated a process of Reverse Osmosis on campus in order to provide pure and safe drinking water.
