Political Science
Overview
Department of Political Science was established in the year 1948. In terms of both teaching and research in the field, Department of Political Science has an outstanding reputation. It easily ranks as one of the greatest departments in the nation because of its extremely high potential for academic growth and faculty members who are well-known for their research and teaching skills. The expansion of the Department has occurred at the same time that the field of political science has progressed from a limited body of legal and institutional knowledge to a more extensive social science that integrates and explores sociological, economic, philosophical, and cultural dimensions and, as a result, is better equipped to a constructive study of politics with a great emphasis on the reality of India.

- First ever initiative undertaken in the State: Assessing One year completion of the Government of Karnataka and the five guarantees made by the Government of Karnataka in their Manifesto in collaboration with CIVIC. - 30/09/2024 – Participated in the Gandhi Peace March held in Cubban Park, Organised by the Government of Karnataka .
- 27/07/2024- AISEC and MCC organized a day long programme “Youth Speak Forum” followed by a Panel discussion on “Growth , Profitability and Sustainability’, where students across Bangalore from various colleges participated. This platform gave our students an. opportunity interact with Global AISEC representatives. AISEC seeks to empower the youth, fostering global minded leaders who are prepared to make a significant impact on the world. Several such sessions were held in MCC and other colleges
- Voter day Oath on 25 th January , 2025 and Voter Registration Drive was drive was carried out in the month of September 2024.
- Internship programme was conducted for final year students on 9/12/2024 under the guideship of Azim Premji University. Recourse people were Adil Hossain, Vrinda K, and Srinivasan Raghavendra.
- 13/08/2024- Department had the privilege of hosting the Maharaja of Tripura Bikram Manikaya Debbarma who gave a talk on Tripura’s cultural Tapestry. This was followed by a grand event at St. Patrick’s auditorium where the Maharaja met the Tripura people staying in Bangalore. This event was represented by the faculty of Political Science and MCC students.
- 26/08/2024 – Department of Political Science in collaboration with Research Department conducted a workshop on “ Research Publication and Academic writings”. Resourse person was Dr. Venkat Iyer, Barrister , School of Law, Ulster University, United Kingdom.
- 13th January , 2025 , Insightful guest talk on “ Secularism, Nationalism, and Indian Politics Today by Achin Vanaik, A retired professor of International Relations and Former Head of Department, Political Science , Delhi University and a life-long activist on Nuclear Disarmament.
- To commemorate the 75th Year of the Indian Constitution, Department hosted and eminent Lawyer , Advocate, Human Rights activist, Former Bureaucrat and JNU ite, Mrs. Abha Singh who gave a talk on Women Rights and Justice at 75th Year of the Indian Constitution on 10/01/2025
