“Empowering Women through Skill Development”

Empowering Women Through Skill Development, The Mount Carmel Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship (MCCIIE) organised a transformative event in association with KVIC in Davangere on January 5th, 2024, from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. The program, an extended activity for social responsibility, aimed to empower women through skill development, fostering a tangible change in their lives and communities. The event, graced by approximately 60-70 participants, unfolded in impactful segments meticulously coordinated by the proficient Ms. B.T. Jahnavi. These women were also provided with machines and certificates on 8th March 2024 by KVIC under the GVY scheme. In essence, the event encapsulated hope, determination, and the promise of transformative change. It not only marked the inauguration of a program but also symbolized the beginning of a journey towards empowerment, economic independence, and self-sufficiency for these resilient women.

“IIC Regional Meet 2023”

The students of MCCIIE actively participated in an event hosted at Reva University, Bengaluru, on 11th December 2023, representing our college and showcasing the achievements and events organised by MCCIIE. This platform provided an invaluable opportunity for our students to engage with peers from diverse institutions, enhancing their understanding of entrepreneurship and innovative concepts.

“Introduction to IIC”

On December 7, 2023, as MCCIIE innovation Ambassador, Dr. Janaki presented The Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) a significant initiative undertaken by various institutions to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among students, faculties, and staff members. The primary purpose of presenting the IIC to Baldwin International School is to showcase its significance, functionality, and benefits to the institution’s stakeholders. The presentation had the objectives of the IIC. By highlighting these aspects, the institution can effectively communicate the significance of the IIC and inspire active participation from students.

“India Sustainability Startathon on September 2023”

This event was co-hosted with The Future Founders Co. on 25th September 2023. Students from various colleges like Christ University, Reva University, CMR University, etc. The day was divided into three categories which included a Student Panel, a Faculty Panel and an Industry Panel. Reva University emerged as the winners who were later eligible to participate in the Youth Leadership Summit 2023 in Singapore for the finale.

“MCCIIE’s Shark Tank”

The MCCIIE’s Shark Tank held on 11th September 2023 in the spirit of Halloween for Mount Carmel’s very own Cul Week featured an array of innovative and imaginative product pitches. Meghna, the Secretary of MCCIIE, kick-started the event by explaining its purpose and introducing the esteemed panel of judges, Prof. Divya Malhotra and Prof. Roopa from the Economics department.

Participants presented products like Shadyrella, which manufactured sunproof umbrellas for vampires on Vampsupplies.com. ‘Dayan Dant Manjan’ for sparkling teeth was another innovative product presented in the contest. Other products like ‘Broom Vroom,’ solar-powered brooms for witches, and ‘Easy Blood,’ a vampire blood bank, blew the minds of the audience further keeping up the air of enthusiasm.

Finally, the judges deliberated and awarded 3rd place to Shadyrella, 2nd place to Spectral Attire, and 1st place to Broom Vroom, emphasising the importance of communication skills.

 

“World Entrepreneurship Day – 2023”

To celebrate World Entrepreneurship Day on 21st August 2023, Mount Carmel Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship held an insightful discussion on ‘Navigating the future of Entrepreneurship: It’s trends and Challenges’ Featuring experienced Panellists as follows:

  • Ms. Niby J Elackatt, Founder and Director, Bluegene Healthtech
  • Dr. Sheeba Thomas, Founder and Executive Director, Glocon Training and Research Centre
  • Ms. Gayathri Suresh, Clinical Podiatrist, and Managing Trustee at Sparsha Foundation
  • Mr. Yudister Narayan, Founder, Hungry Shark Media and the moderator for the event
  • Ms. Mythri Kumar, Founder and CEO of Timbukdo. It was an enlightening discussion which shed light on how to make one’s dreams into reality keeping in mind the ever-changing business environment.

“E-Walk: An Entrepreneurial Walk”

“ E-Walk: An Entrepreneurial Walk” was for the Fresher’s Day on August 19, 2023, to allow the freshers to creatively portray their business acumen through a pitch. The first years enthusiastically flaunted their ethnic attire and put forth their innovative product ideas.

“Entrepreneurship Journey by Gitanjali Subhramanian and Sheetha Umesh”

The Entrepreneurship Journey, featured two exceptional entrepreneurs, Gitanjali Subhramanian and Sheetha Umesh. The event on August 18, 2023, at 8:50 am, showcased their inspiring stories. Gitanjali, founder of Gitsu Photography, shared her transition from a student to a successful entrepreneur, emphasising her passion for photography. Sheetha, founder of Bad Habits, highlighted her creative journey and adaptability. Attendees left inspired by their dedication and creativity, believing that the path from passion to entrepreneurship is attainable.

“Angel Investment and Venture Capital”

On August 16, 2023, a successful Guest Talk on Angel Investment and Venture Capital in collaboration with the PG Department of Commerce was organised. The seminar, held at the PG Auditorium, featured speaker CMA Abhijeet S Jain, who shared valuable insights on topics ranging from angel investors and their types to venture capital stages and distinctions between the two. With the participation of around 40 students and the engagement of four teachers, the event fostered a conducive environment for learning, networking, and in-depth discussions, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of these crucial financial concepts.

India Sustainability Startathon 2023

The “India Sustainability Startathon 2023 continued the momentum from a successful Hackathon held on July 27, 2023. On August 10, 2023, the event featured 30 students forming six teams, each comprising five members. These teams tackled diverse sustainability challenges, such as reducing food loss, innovative landfill waste management, underage alcohol consumption prevention, global food loss, sustainable clothing, and harnessing wind energy. Their creative solutions underscored the importance of collaborative efforts for a sustainable future.
