The Faculty Induction Program organized by IQAC in association with CLDT held at the institution from July 24th to 28th 2023, was meticulously organized to equip new faculty members with a thorough understanding of institutional operations, policies, and resources. On the first day, Sr. Albina, Director, offered a detailed overview of the institution, covering its history, core values, and long-term goals. Dr. George Lekha, Principal, then delved into the Vision and Mission statements, emphasizing the institution's commitment to holistic education, innovation, and societal impact. Dr. Charmaine Jerome, Dean of Student Affairs, outlined the Code of Conduct, stressing the importance of professional ethics, inclusivity, and mutual respect within the academic community.
On the second day, Dr. Regina L. Suganthi, Registrar Admissions, presented an in-depth session on Leave and Permission policies, outlining the procedures for requesting leave and the expectations for faculty availability. Dr. Kavitha Singh, Dean of Research and Publications, highlighted the extensive research facilities available to faculty, including access to advanced laboratories, grants, and collaborative research initiatives, aimed at fostering a robust research culture.
The third day was dedicated to essential support services. Mr. Asgar F. Ahmed, Placement Officer, provided insights into the Placement Cell’s operations, including its strong industry connections and career development programs that prepare students for successful careers. Ms. Sindhu David, the institution’s Counsellor, introduced the counseling services available to support students' mental and emotional well-being, emphasizing the role faculty play in referring students in need. Additionally, Ms. Shobha N. K., Selection Grade Librarian, detailed the library facilities, including access to a vast array of physical and digital resources and research databases that faculty can utilize in their teaching and research.
On the fourth day, Dr. Suma Singh, Registrar Academics, led a session on “Higher Education Policies and NEP Guidelines,” providing a thorough explanation of recent developments in the National Education Policy (NEP) and its implications for teaching, curriculum design, and student engagement. This session equipped faculty with valuable insights into adapting to policy changes that emphasize flexibility, interdisciplinary studies, and skill-based education.
The program concluded on July 28th with an overview of Exam Regulations by Prof. Raghu V. N., Dean of the School of Commerce. His session clarified the exam procedures, grading policies, and the importance of academic integrity, ensuring that new faculty are well-prepared to conduct and evaluate exams in alignment with institutional standards. The week-long program provided faculty members with a solid foundation in institutional practices, support structures, and academic policies, fostering a sense of belonging and readiness for their roles.
