In the year 2000, the Total Quality Management Cell (TQMC) was set up in MCC with the objective of enhancing and sustaining the quality standards in the institution. In 2005, TQMC was renamed as Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

Vision & Mission

IQAC aims at being instrumental in attaining realistic quality benchmarks for academic and administrative activities of the college. It will also help the Institution to grow by sustaining quality and rising above the standard.

IQAC Activities 2018 - 2019

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, hosted an enlightening Orientation Programme titled "Tools to Enhance Teaching and Learning Effectiveness" for its esteemed faculty members from May 28th to June 2nd, 2018. Dr. Raghavendra and his team served as the resource persons for this transformative event.

The programme was meticulously designed to equip faculty members with innovative tools and methodologies aimed at enhancing the overall teaching and learning experience. Driven by a commitment to academic excellence, the sessions delved into cutting-edge approaches, technological advancements, and best practices in education.

The participatory nature of the programme fostered a collaborative learning environment, enabling faculty members to explore and integrate new tools into their teaching strategies. This event undoubtedly contributed to the professional development of the faculty, empowering them with the skills and insights needed to elevate the educational standards at Mount Carmel College.

On the 5th and 6th of June 2018, Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, conducted a comprehensive Staff Induction Programme tailored for its new faculty members.

The esteemed resource persons for this initiative included Dr. S Ramesh, Dean of Commerce &
Management; Dr. Uma V, Dean of Science (PG); Ms. Vimala C M, Dean of Science (UG); Prof. V N Raghu, Head & Associate Professor of the Department of Business Studies; Dr. Suma Singh, Dean of Humanities; and Dr. Hamsa N, Head & Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology.

This dynamic lineup of experts ensured a holistic introduction to the college's academic landscape. The induction sessions, led by these seasoned professionals, not only acquainted the new faculty with the college's vision, mission, and values but also provided valuable insights into their respective disciplines. The interactive nature of the programme fostered a sense of community and collaboration, laying a strong foundation for the new faculty members to integrate seamlessly into the academic fabric of Mount Carmel College.

On July 23, 2018, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Mount Carmel College demonstrated its commitment to professional development by organizing a workshop on "Basic Training in Microsoft Excel" exclusively for the administrative staff members. The workshop featured distinguished faculty members from the Department of Computer Science as resource persons, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.

The objective of the training was to empower the administrative staff with fundamental skills in Microsoft Excel, covering crucial aspects such as spreadsheet navigation, data entry, basic formulas, and data analysis. The faculty members facilitated an engaging and hands-on learning environment, encouraging active participation and fostering a practical understanding of Excel functionalities.

This initiative reflects Mount Carmel College's dedication to fostering continuous learning and skill development among its staff. By providing training in contemporary tools and technologies, the college ensures that its administrative operations are conducted with efficiency and proficiency, aligning with the evolving demands of the academic and administrative landscape.

On July 26, 2018, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Mount Carmel College organized a highly informative session on "E-Procurement" for the faculty members.

The workshop, conducted by the renowned Mr. Suman Nandy, CEO of Campus Technology, delved into the intricacies of electronic procurement processes. Mr. Nandy, with his expertise in the field, provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of E-Procurement, elucidating its significance and practical applications.

The session covered essential aspects such as online purchasing systems, digital vendor management, and the integration of technology to streamline procurement workflows.

On September 17, 2018, Mount Carmel College's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) orchestrated a transformative "Personal Effectiveness Workshop" tailored explicitly for the administrative staff. The resource persons for this enlightening session were the faculty members of the Department of English.

This workshop aimed to enhance the personal and professional effectiveness of the administrative staff by focusing on various aspects of communication, time management, interpersonal skills, and overall self-development.

On the 3rd of October 2018, Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, showcased its commitment to the holistic well-being of its administrative staff through a targeted "Health Awareness Workshop" organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The resource persons for this insightful session were faculty members from the esteemed Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition & Dietetics, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to health education.

The workshop aimed to impart crucial knowledge on health and wellness to the administrative staff, covering topics ranging from maintaining a healthy lifestyle to understanding nutritional practices and adopting preventive healthcare measures. Leveraging the expertise of the faculty members, participants gained valuable insights into the intricacies of biochemistry and nutrition, empowering them to make informed decisions regarding their well-being.

On October 7, 2018, Mount Carmel College's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a significant workshop focusing on "PO, CO Attainment" exclusively for the faculty members. The session featured Mr. Suman Nandy, CEO of Campus Technology, as the resource person, bringing his expertise to the forefront.

This workshop delved into the critical realm of assessing and achieving Program Outcomes (PO) and Course Outcomes (CO), essential components of ensuring and enhancing educational quality. Mr. Nandy provided in-depth insights into effective methodologies for defining, measuring, and elevating these outcomes, aligning with contemporary educational standards and best practices.

By organizing this workshop, the IQAC aimed to augment the faculty's proficiency in the intricacies of outcome-based education, reinforcing Mount Carmel College's commitment to maintaining academic excellence. This strategic initiative underscores the institution's dedication to staying current with educational advancements and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within its academic community.

On October 23, 2018, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Mount Carmel College organized a rejuvenating "Yoga Workshop" exclusively for the administrative staff. Ms. Veena, an expert in the field of yoga, served as the resource person for this enriching session. The workshop aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among the administrative staff, aligning with Mount Carmel College's holistic approach to staff development.

Ms. Veena guided participants through various yoga practices, focusing on relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and stress management. The workshop provided a serene and conducive environment for staff members to unwind and rejuvenate, fostering a sense of balance and resilience in the face of daily professional challenges.

On November 27, 2018, Mount Carmel College took a significant step towards embracing technological advancements in academia by hosting a comprehensive session on "E-Governance" for the faculty members. Facilitated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the workshop featured Mr. Suman Nandy, CEO of Campus Technology, as the resource person.

With expertise in the field, Mr. Nandy guided the faculty through the intricacies of E-Governance, emphasizing the integration of technology for more efficient and transparent administrative processes. The workshop provided valuable insights into emerging concepts and best practices, empowering the faculty with knowledge on leveraging E-Governance to streamline educational operations.

This initiative, led by the IQAC, exemplifies Mount Carmel College's commitment to staying abreast of contemporary developments, ensuring its faculty remains well-informed and equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of educational governance.

IQAC Activities 2019 - 2020

On the 7th of June 2019, IQAC at Mount Carmel College conducted a comprehensive orientation program for its new staff members. The session, facilitated by the senior-most faculty members—Dr. Ramesh, Ms. Vimala, Dr. Shantha Maria, Dr. Suma Singh, and Ms. Shylashree—aimed to acquaint the new faculty members with various aspects of the institution.

Covering a spectrum of topics, the program delved into the college's rules and regulations, emphasizing the conduct expected from staff both on and off campus. Additionally, insights into the prevailing campus culture, available facilities, potential teaching methodologies, mentoring system were shared. Dr. Ramesh and the other facilitators, provided invaluable guidance, drawing from their wealth of experience.

The orientation served as a pivotal platform for the new staff to not only gain a foundational understanding of the institution's operational framework but also to forge connections with key individuals who would play a crucial role in their professional journey at Mount Carmel College. Overall, the session fostered a sense of community and preparedness among the new staff members as they embarked on their roles within the academic community.

On the 17th of June 2019, the faculty members of Mount Carmel College participated in a significant session on the National Education Policy, led by the esteemed resource person, Mr. Chethan Singhai. Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), this enlightening session aimed to equip educators with a profound understanding of the implications of the National Education Policy on higher education.

Mr. Singhai, recognized as an expert in the field, engaged the audience in a thoughtful discourse that spanned crucial aspects of the policy.His insights encompassed the transformative changes proposed by the policy, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and perspectives among the faculty members. The session not only provided a platform for clarifying queries but also encouraged educators to critically reflect on the evolving landscape of national educational priorities.

On the 15th of July 2019, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a meeting with members of the Science faculty at Mount Carmel College. The primary objective was to collaboratively construct a robust proposal for the establishment of a 3D printing lab within the framework of the MCC Skill Development Centre. This strategic initiative aimed to harness the expertise of the Science faculty to integrate cutting-edge technology, specifically 3D printing, into the college's skill development initiatives.

At the commencement of every academic year, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organizes a session where students from diverse disciplines have the opportunity to engage with the Head of the Institution and voice their concerns. On the 22nd and 23rd of July 2019 in the current academic year, students at Mount Carmel College had the honor of participating in a significant interaction with the esteemed Principal, Dr. Sr. Arpana.

This session served as a conduit for fostering a meaningful connection between the academic leadership and the student body, offering a platform for insightful exchanges. Dr. Sr. Arpana not only shared valuable insights but also actively addressed queries, fostering an open and inclusive dialogue.

In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 lockdown on the education sector, Mount Carmel College took proactive measures on April 30, 2020, by organizing a webinar to sustain the mentoring process for their Mentee institutions under the Paramarsh scheme. The Zoom session, convened at 10 am on the specified date, featured Dr. John Prince, the NAAC Accreditation Ambassador at MCC, as the resource person. Attendees included the Principal of MCC, the Dean of Humanities, the COE, the UGC Coordinator, numerous IQAC members, and several Principals, approximately 61 participants in the virtual session.

Sr. Arpana, the Principal of Mount Carmel College, extended a welcome address, followed by Dr. Kavitha Singh, the IQAC Coordinator, introducing the session's speaker, Dr. John Prince, and his colleague, Mr. Gomathinayagam. Dr. Prince provided a comprehensive overview of the ICT facilities colleges should swiftly implement due to the Covid-19 lockdown, emphasizing their significance in determining NAAC and NIRF scores. He highlighted the necessity for online teaching, as well as staff engagement in online courses to ensure currency and relevance during the lockdown.

The second Lock Down FDP session conducted by Mount Carmel College Autonomous Bengaluru under the Paramarsh scheme for its Mentee institutions centered on the Registration process for NAAC Accreditation and took the form of a webinar held on Zoom on May 22, 2020, at 11 am. Chaired by Dr. Sr. Arpana, the Principal of Mount Carmel College Autonomous Bengaluru, and Dr. Kavitha Singh, the IQAC coordinator at MCC, the session featured Mr. Suman Nandy, CEO of Campus Technology, as the speaker. Attended by approximately 50 participants, including the Principal and NAAC accreditation ambassador of MCC, IQAC members, and principals from Mentee institutions, the webinar commenced with Dr. Sr. Arpana welcoming the participants of the webinar. Dr. Kavitha Singh introduced the speaker Mr. Nandy. Mr.Nandy guided Mentee colleges through the NAAC registration process and emphasized the necessity of establishing key committees such as the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Anti-sexual Harassment Cell, Grievance committee, Anti-ragging cell, and an Academic Council.

He highlighted the importance of collecting data on institution and staff activities over a five-year period, emphasizing the need for documented evidence. Mr. Nandy also presented Campus Technology's academic facilities, including Learning Management System (LMS) options, online course features, and the potential for conducting online exams. The Q&A session addressed concerns about the requirement for AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report), and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr.Sangeetha Pandey, a member of IQAC at MCC.

On the 6th of December 2019, IQAC at Mount Carmel College organized a workshop aimed at familiarizing all faculty members with the intricacies of utilizing Knowledge Pro software for the entry of departmental data. The primary objective of the workshop was to provide a comprehensive understanding of the diverse tabs within Knowledge Pro, specifically designed for uploading departmental data across various criteria outlined in the NAAC Accreditation Framework.

The workshop served as a crucial platform for faculty members to gain proficiency in navigating and effectively utilizing Knowledge Pro software. This initiative was strategically aligned with the institution's commitment to meeting the stringent standards set by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). By empowering faculty with the knowledge and skills required for streamlined data entry, the workshop played a pivotal role in enhancing the college's readiness and adherence to accreditation protocols, thereby contributing to the overall quality assurance measures within the academic framework of Mount Carmel College.

On the 7th of December 2019, a significant one-day hands-on training session unfolded at Mount Carmel College, focusing on Advanced Microsoft Excel, and catering specifically to the administrative staff on campus. Headed by the proficient faculty members of the Computer Science department, approximately 35 administrative staff members actively participated in this enriching program. Organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Mount Carmel College, the training aimed to equip the administrative staff with advanced skills in Excel, acknowledging its pivotal role in data management and analysis.

The hands-on nature of the session facilitated practical learning, ensuring that participants could directly apply the acquired skills to their daily tasks. Covering advanced features and functionalities of Microsoft Excel, the training not only enhanced the efficiency of administrative processes but also underscored the institution's commitment to empowering its staff with contemporary technological skills.

Pramarsh is a UGC scheme for mentoring NAAC accreditation aspirant institutions to promote Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Mount Carmel College is one among the mentoring institutions chosen by the UGC to mentor institutions aspiring for NAAC accreditation. The main objective of this scheme is to enhance the overall quality of the mentee institutions to enable them to get accredited.

The mentor institution has the responsibility of guiding the mentee institutions by providing various services to improve their overall development. Mount Carmel College has adopted five institutions namely Government First Grade College, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru, Government First Grade College, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru, Government First Grade College, Rajaji Nagar, Bengaluru, St.Pauls College, Bengaluru and Darshan College, Bengaluru as the mentee institutions under this scheme.

The inauguration was presided over by the chief guest, Dr.R.K.RameshBabu, Joint Director, Department Of Collegiate Education.Dr.KavithaG Singh, the Coordinator of the IQAC, Mount Carmel Collegewelcomed the gathering.Dr.Sr.Arpana,Principal, Mount Carmel College,addressed the gathering and expressed her gratitude towards the Paramarsh Scheme and wished all the Mentee Institutions for the success of Paramarsh.Dr. S. Rajkumar., member of the IQAC, Mount Carmel College, introduced the chief Guest Dr.R.K.RameshBabu , Joint Director , Department Of Collegiate Education .Ms. Hasitha K., member of the IQAC, Mount Carmel College, introduced Dr.Jeevan Kumar, Accreditation Ambassador, key note speaker for the event.

The inaugural workshop under the Paramarsh scheme, titled "One Day Training Programme on NAAC – RAF with SOP," took place on March 11, 2020, in the VC Room at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru. Facilitated by the IQAC team of Mount Carmel College, the event saw the participation of Prof. Jeevan Kumar, MCC’s Accreditation Ambassador, along with Principals and IQAC team members from both Mentor and Mentee institutions.

Prof. Jeevan Kumar initiated the discussion by providing a comprehensive overview of the Quality Indication Framework (QIF), elucidating the seven criteria that form the foundation of NAAC and emphasizing their alignment with core values such as contribution to national development, fostering global competency, inculcating moral values, promoting the use of technology, and striving for excellence.

The IQAC team of Mount Carmel College, having recently navigated the rigorous 4th cycle of NAAC, subsequently guided the participants through the intricacies of document preparation, offering valuable insights to address any concerns related to the forthcoming accreditation cycles of the Mentee institutions.

On the 8th of August 2019, the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) team, comprising the Principal, Vice Principal, and Deans, actively participated in a workshop dedicated to Data Processing and Automation for the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). facilitated by Dr. Clement King, the resource person for the day. The session was instrumental in elucidating key formulae integral to the computation of NIRF rankings for educational institutions.

As the workshop drew to a close, a practical exercise was administered, prompting the group to scrutinize the college for prevalent concerns and areas of improvement. This interactive assessment served as a valuable platform for the team to collectively identify and deliberate on noteworthy issues affecting the institution.

IQAC Activities 2020 - 21

Mount Carmel College organized virtual Faculty Development Programme (FDP) in the month of June from 8th June 2020 -13th June 2020 for all the faculty members of the Institution. In an attempt to combat the structures imposed on the entire teaching community by the COVID-19, the FDP was designed such that the members who attended were benefited from the programme for the current online teaching methods.

  • Effective Academic Writing
  • Optimizing Usage of E-Resources

The session was held on Zoom platform on 17th of July 2020 at 11 am. The session was patronised by Dr. Sr. Arpana, Principal of Mount Carmel College, Autonomous Bengaluru. The speaker for the webinar was Mr. Suman Nandy, the CEO of Campus Technology. Campus Technology, an e- platform that assists with and manages data that colleges need in the UGC NAAC accreditation process. The webinar was attended by the Principal, members of the IQAC and the administrative staff of Mount Carmel College.

The session began with a prayer by Ms. Ester Jackson, Dept. of English, Member of IQAC followed by Dr. Sr. Arpana welcoming the gathering. Mr. Nandy took on a virtual tour of NAAC site in order to make a clear understanding about the documentation needed for NAAC accreditation. Mr. Nandy also explained about the various primary and secondary documentations eligible for accreditation. Mr. Suman Nandy clarified all the concerns regarding scholarships document raised by the finance department.

The moderator and Chairperson of the webinar was Dr.A.Ravindra, IAS(Retd), Former Chief Secretary , Karnataka and Chairman for Centre For Sustainable Development . He spoke about the Environment and Development Challenges.

Dr.K.V.Raju , Environment Economist and Economic Advisor to Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was the guest speaker for the Webinar . The challenges which Dr. Ravindra spoke are Decline Economic Growth, Employment Crisis, Glaring Inequalities and Environment Sustainability. The next speaker for this webinar was Dr.M.K. Ramesh who spoke about the Development and Environment. Dr. Priyanka was the next speaker who spoke about the all the sustainable development goals (SDG) and the challenges faced by India against climate disaster.

Mount Carmel College Conducted A Webinar on ‘Strategic Leadership In Higher Education’ on 29th
September, 2020 from 4pm to 5pm using Zoom platform for two mentee colleges under the UGC-
Paramarsh scheme.

The mentee Colleges which participated in the Webinar were Darshan Degree College, Kengeri and St. Pauls College, Nagasandra. Dr. Suma Singh, Dean Of Humanities, was the speaker for the webinar. Dr. Kavitha Singh, IQAC Coordinator of Mount Carmel College welcomed the gathering which included the principals of both the colleges and their respective IQAC Teams and introduced the speaker to the participants of the webinar. Dr.Suma Singh , the speaker for the webinar started her talk with the tag ‘Great Leaders Don’t Set Out To Be A Leader, They Set Out To Make A Difference, its Never About The Role, its Always.

Dr Suma briefed how to be goal oriented and showed some examples of great leaders who defined convention. Dr. Suma spoke about changing the nature of education sector , how to create an eco- system which encourages for a better education and how to build a robust exam system. She also explained about the leadership in HEI which includes administration , Academic , Research and Engagement.

With reference to the framework designed for UGC-PARAMARSH scheme, Mount Carmel College conducted Faculty Enrichment Programme for the Mentee Institution – Darshan Degree College. Mount Carmel College visited the Mentee Institution on 13th March 2021, had an interaction with the faculties of Darshan Degree College.

Mount Carmel College being the mentor Institution and Darshan Degree College as the mentee Institution under the UGC- Paramarsh Scheme. Dr. Kavitha G Singh, Research Director , Mount Carmel College and Dr.Dorin D’souza , Research Coordinator , Mount Carmel College were the speakers for the Faculty Enrichment Programme.

Around 210 participants from various fields and facets all over India took part in the Workshop. The dignitary firmly stated the importance of Yoga in building rapport between mind, body and soul. The resourse person stressed that he is a regular practitioner of Yoga. He laid the importance of seven principles of Yoga and how yoga contributes to overcome the bad habits of us.

IQAC Activities 2021 - 22

A four day training programme was organized for administrative staff members from 2nd August to 5th August, 2021 on GST and its implications, e- Filing of I T Returns, Work- Life Balance and Communication & Soft Skills.

On 2nd August , Mr. M. V. Sridhar shed light on the significance and objectives of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He elucidated the need for GST as a comprehensive tax reform that aimed to streamline the fragmented indirect tax structure prevalent in India.

On 3rd August, Ms. Suseil Rani's explained the significance of the financial year and assessment year was illuminating for individuals and businesses, as it plays a vital role in effective tax management.

On 4th August, Dr. Shubha Madhusudan, the topic of work-life balance took center stage, encompassing various crucial aspects of personal life. With expertise and finesse, she delved into the complexities of balancing family, profession, social commitments, financial responsibilities, and emotional well-being.

On 5th August, Dr. Swarnalatha delved into the Top 10 Essential Skills for Effective Communication, providing insightful tips on active listening, clarity, empathy, and assertiveness, among others. Another significant aspect discussed during the session was the Elements of Emotional Intelligence (EI), which encompass self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.

The main objective of this programme was to give the participants hands on training with regard to the techniques of record keeping of equipment, chemicals and other laboratory materials using the office automation tools.

Date : 5th February 2022

The Library, in collaboration with the IQAC, organized an informative and interactive online Library User Orientation on 5th February 2022, from 10 am to 11 am, catering to the first year UG and PG students. The session aimed to familiarize the students with the Information and Knowledge Center's resources and services. The comprehensive program covered a wide arrayof topics, starting with an introduction to the Library and its layout, followed by insights into different sections and rules and regulations.

The 'Ahara, Vihara, Achara, and Vichara' session conducted for the support staff proved to be truly enlightening under the guidance of Ms. Swathi, the resource person. On May 07, 2022, in the esteemed VC Room, Dr. Suma Singh delivered a compelling talk on Outcome-based Education (OBE) tailored specifically for the Humanities faculty. With a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of education, Dr. Singh elucidated the significance of aligning curricula and teaching methodologies with measurable outcomes that go beyond mere knowledge acquisition.

IQAC Activities 2022 - 23

On August 2, 2022, Dr. Shubha Madhusudan, a distinguished Clinical Psychologist and the Founder of Manasvi Dynamics, delivered an enlightening session on "Work-Life Balance" for the administrative staff at Mount Carmel College. Dr. Madhusudan emphasized the ever- increasing significance of maintaining equilibrium between one's professional and personal life in today's fast-paced world. She underscored the detrimental effects of neglecting this balance, including stress, burnout, and decreased overall well-being.

On August 4, 2022, Ms. Leila Ann Varghese, a distinguished former Dean of Humanities and Head of the Department of Psychology at MCC, delivered an insightful session on "Communication and Soft Skills" to the administrative staff. Her extensive experience in the field of education and psychology became evident as she eloquently highlighted the critical significance of effective communication and soft skills in both personal and professional spheres.

On the 3rd of August 2022, Mount Carmel College organized an orientation session for its faculty members on the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS). Dr. T R Kumaraswamy, a distinguished guest faculty from Bengaluru City University, served as the resource person for the session.

The orientation aimed to familiarize the faculty members with the features, functionalities, and benefits of the UUCMS platform. Dr. Kumaraswamy provided a comprehensive overview of the system, highlighting its role in streamlining administrative processes, enhancing communication, and promoting efficiency in academic and administrative operations.

Dr. Sundaravalli, gave an enlightening session on mentoring to the newly recruited staff at Mount Carmel College. Her extensive experience and deep knowledge in the field of academia were evident as she underscored the crucial role of mentorship in shaping the careers and personal growth of new faculty members.

Dr. Sundaravalli emphasized the importance of fostering meaningful relationships between mentors and mentees, offering guidance on navigating the academic landscape effectively. Her session served as an inspiring kickoff to the induction program, setting the tone for the days to come.

On the 12th September 2022, Mount Carmel College organized a Faculty Development Program focusing on the vital role of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Strategies, featuring Dr. Anjana Mani as the resource person. Dr. Anjana Mani, a distinguished authority in the field, delivered insightful perspectives on the significance of QA in ensuring product and service excellence, as well as the necessity of continuous improvement for organizational growth and resilience.

On the second day of the Faculty Development Program held on September 13th, at Mount Carmel College, focused on "Exploring Research Methodologies: Analyzing Various Approaches," with Dr. Savitha M Murthy as the distinguished resource person. Dr. Murthy, an esteemed expert in research methodologies, guided faculty members through an illuminating exploration of diverse approaches to conduct research.

On the third day of the Faculty Development Program at Mount Carmel College, held on September 14th, faculty members embarked on a journey to decipher the inner workings of Enterprise Resource Planning systems, guided by Ms. Shobha T S, an expert in the field. Ms. Shobha provided a comprehensive overview of ERP systems, elucidating their architecture, functionalities, and implementation strategies.

Dr. Regina Lourdhu Suganthi led a transformative Faculty Development Program on the fourth day, 15th September 2022, focusing on harnessing the potential of Learning Management System integration, with a spotlight on the versatile Moodle platform. Through an enlightening session, Dr. Regina elucidated the strategic fusion of Moodle's functionalities with pedagogical objectives, showcasing its capacity in sculpting dynamic and customized learning environments.

On the 5th day of the Faculty Development Program at Mount Carmel College, held on 15th September 2022, Ms. Priya Kurian led an enlightening session centered on the intricate dynamics of teaching and learning styles from a psychological perspective. Drawing from her expertise, Ms. Kurian delved into the multifaceted nature of individual learning preferences and the diverse instructional methods that cater to these preferences.

On the final day of the Faculty Development Program held on 17th September 2022, Mrs. Shobha, the esteemed Librarian of Mount Carmel College, Autonomous Bengaluru, conducted an enlightening session on the utilization of electronic resources. Through her expertise, Mrs. Shobha provided valuable insights into leveraging electronic resources to enrich teaching, learning, and research endeavors. Faculty members gained practical knowledge on accessing, evaluating, and integrating a wide array of electronic resources into their academic practices.

On January 28, 2023, the faculty members of Mount Carmel College, Autonomous were privileged to attend an enlightening talk delivered by Mr. Srinivasa, the Training Manager at EBSCO Information Services Pvt Ltd, on "The Usage of EBSCO - The Database for E- Resources".

The event was eagerly anticipated as EBSCO is renowned for its vast collection of high-quality digital resources and research databases, making it an indispensable tool for academics and researchers. During his engaging presentation, Mr. Srinivasa showcased the immense potential of EBSCO in revolutionizing the way faculty members access and utilize information.

On March 6th, 2023, an insightful session on "Recording Data in Campus Technology for NAAC Accreditation" was conducted by Ms. Sushmita, a representative from Campus Technology. The event was specially organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and was attended by Heads of Departments and Coordinators from various departments within the institution.

During the session, Ms. Sushmita adeptly emphasized the significance of employing campus technology as a powerful tool to record and manage data effectively, aligning with the NAAC's accreditation requirements.

As part of the IQAC initiative, Mount Carmel College has been consistently providing digital literacy training to its support staff. On May 22, 2023, Ms. Renju K, a member of the IQAC, conducted a recap session focusing on essential digital skills.

The session focused on utilizing word processing software, specifically Microsoft Word, for tasks such as creating and opening files as well as various formatting options such as adjusting font sizes, changing text colors, applying formatting styles like bold, italics, and underline, and setting heading styles and paragraphs. Other options such as inserting images, aligning images, aligning images and text, creating tables were also taught by the resource person.

Continuing the digital literacy training, on May 23, 2023, Dr. Upendra Raju conducted a digital literacy training session tailored to empower support staff with essential digital proficiencies the session commenced.

University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched the scheme – PARAMARSH with the objective of promoting quality education imparted to the next generation by our Higher Education Institutions. This scheme intends to promote well-performing accredited institutions to Mentor the NAAC accreditation aspiring Mentee institutions so as to enable them to get accredited by 2022.

Mount Carmel College reaccredited with A+ with a CGPA of 3.35 in the fourth cycle of NAAC accreditation is one among the Mentoring NAAC Accreditation Aspirant Institutions chosen by UGC.

The Paramarsh scheme of MCC is being directed under the guidance of the Accreditation Ambassador – Dr. Jeevan Kumar, Hon. Professor, Karnataka State Rural Development & Panchayat Raj University, Gadag. The Mentoring is being imparted through the Standing Committee and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College which will facilitate and guide the mentee institution in its operations with the prime objective of upgrading the academic performance and ensuring that the mentee institution gets accredited.

As per the directives of the UGC, the College has identified five Mentee institutions and MOUs have been signed with the Institutions to begin the initiation and implementation of the scheme.

Placement Policy & Guidelines for Students

The Placement Policy is applicable to all students registered with the Placement Cell of Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, and is to be followed during their entire tenure at the college.

  1. The Placement Officer & the Placement Coordinator are the facilitators and counsellors for placement related activities and will be responsible for all concerned activities & functioning of the Placement Cell.
  2. The Student Placement Committee will be assisting the Placement Officer & the Placement Coordinator in all activities related to placements.
  3. Neither the College nor the Placement Cell guarantees a job. The Placement Cell will facilitate and coordinate the placement activities on campus including bringing in companies, coordinating the recruitment drives, organizing recruitment training and other related activities leading to the successful placements of the deserving students.
  4. Applying for a company, getting recruited, joining a company is entirely the responsibility/decision of the student concerned.
  5. Opting to register for placements is completely the choice of the students. As some would want to pursue higher studies or other opportunities, such students can refrain from registering with the Placement Cell.
  6. Students are required to check the ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for registering with the Placement Cell before registering.
  7. All final year students with an aggregate score of 60% and above and with NO ACTIVE BACKLOGS are eligible to register for placements.
  8. All registered students are required to MANDATORILY attend the recruitment training conducted by the Placement Cell and meet the necessary threshold of 75% attendance and 80% completion of the practice tests & assessments to qualify for applying to the cos. Failing to qualify may result in re-training of the student at an additional cost which is to be borne at actuals by the concerned student.
  9. The Placement Cell will notify all the registered students about the upcoming recruitment drives through mails and Whatsapp group notifications and not individually. The students are to be alert and keep a track of the notifications and apply as per their interest and eligibility.
  10. Once a student registers/enrolls for a particular company, she is expected to complete the entire recruitment process as relevant and required. Failing to do so, will result in the student being debarred from sitting for further recruitment drives. Exceptions will be made at the sole discretion of the Placement Cell only in genuine cases. Such cases/reasons to be formally communicated to the Placement Office over mail at least one day prior to the drive.
  11. The student has a choice not to participate in the recruitment process of a company after attending the Pre-Placement Talk. If she decides to continue, then she will be bound by the College Placement Policy to attend the rest of the recruitment process of the company as stated above.
  12. Students will not be allowed to participate in the selection process of a company for which she has missed the PPT.
  13. While the Placement Cell will do its due diligence and bring in the right companies, it is the responsibility of every student to check the company profile, eligibility, Job Profile and the Job Role before applying. The same will also be mailed and/or updated on the Notice Boards or social media groups.
    a. Ex 1- If a company requires the applicant to have an average of 70%, be well assured that you meet the criteria before applying to that company.
    b. Ex 2- If the company requires you to have NO standing arrears/backlogs at the time of attending the placement process, kindly DO NOT APPLY to the company if you do not meet this criterion.
  14. If, after being selected by a company, for some reason the student is not satisfied either with the pay, the timings, work allotted, etc during onboarding, she will need to take it up with the concerned within the company. The Placement Cell will not be able to intervene in internal matters. However, it is important that the students reach out to us in case there are major deviations from the terms mentioned by the company at the time of recruitment.
  15. A student can apply to as many companies as she wants and appear for interviews until the first job is secured. A student will be considered to have secured a job if her name appears in the final select list of a company.
  16. The Placement Office of MCC follows a strict “ONE OFFER PER STUDENT” Policy. However, if a student has been offered a job with a CTC less than or equal to INR 2 lakhs PA, she can opt to apply for ONE more company, subject to prior formal approval by the Placement Office.
  17. Once a student’s name appears in the final selects of a company, it is obligatory for the student to accept the offer. Rejecting offers is strictly not allowed. Defaulters will be required to submit a letter to the Principal along with a penalty fee which could be equivalent to one month’s salary being offered by the said company.
  18. Recruitment Process: All companies generally follow the following procedure (however they could be exceptions) –
    a. Presentation about the company & Job Profile (Pre-Placement Talk)
    b. Written Exam (Aptitude / Technical Test)
    c. Group Discussion and/or Task (Assignments)
    d. Interview (Technical/HR/Others)
    e. Verification of Documents
    f. Offer Letter
  19. Students are to strictly ensure the following for all recruitment drives:
    a. Must report on time as mentioned in the schedules
    b. Wear Business Formals for every recruitment process. Students wearing casuals during recruitment process will be sent back
    c. Always carry one folder containing resumes (2-3 copies), passport size photos, copies of mark sheets, certificates & stationery
    d. Compulsorily carry College & Govt. ID Cards
  20. Most companies require applicants to have Govt. ID – Aadhar & PAN. Hence it is advised for all students to apply for these before registering for placements.
    Students are not allowed to contact the Company / HR team directly for any reason through the recruitment process. In case of any issues or concerns, they are advised to contact their Placement Office and discuss their problems.
  21. Strict action will be taken against students found to be engaged in maligning the College or the Placement Office with the companies. Any grievances you may have, are to be brought to the notice of the of the Placement Officer for resolution.
  22. If a student makes any false claims in the Resume/Student Registration Form, her registration will be cancelled immediately and job offer if any, will be revoked.
  23. All companies conduct a thorough background check/verification. If the company finds that you have manipulated your marks / documents in any manner/or mis-represented any information, your job offer will be terminated, and your name will be blacklisted.
  24. Strict discipline needs to be followed by every student during the recruitment process. Any sort of indecent behavior/misbehavior which affects the decorum of the Placement Cell or the reputation of the College or the Company, will attract severe penalty and disqualification.
  25. Unless explicitly permitted by the companies, use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited during the recruitment process.
  26. Malpractice in all forms or marking proxies during the selection process and beyond, is strictly prohibited and those caught indulging in such activities would be debarred from the placement process. Also, note that no concessions in any form shall be made in such cases.
  27. It may happen that the campus recruitment process can stretch till late evenings. Students are required and prepared to be available accordingly. In case of off-line drives, students are to inform their parents and should arrange their own transportation.
  28. In case of virtual (online) recruitment drives, it is the responsibility of the students to ensure they have the necessary equipment (laptop/PC with functional webcam and mic) and sufficient internet bandwidth for seamless conduction of the process.
  29. Students are required to provide correct email IDs and contact numbers at the time of registration. These will be used for all communication from the Placement Cell and the recruiting companies. The onus is on the students to ensure the contact details provided are correct and up to date.
  30. Students are advised to check their mails regularly as all communication related to placements will be sent through mails.
  31. It is mandatory that once you receive an Intent Letter/Offer Letter from the Company, a copy must be submitted to the Placement Office. Failing which, the end semester examination Hall Ticket/results will be withheld.
  32. All students registered for placements will be bounded by the Attendance Policy of the College. Any exception to the above is permitted only through formal approval of the Placement Office and the respective Department Heads.

WE EXPECT OUR STUDENTS TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND UPHOLD THE VALUES OF THE COLLEGE AT ALL TIMES.

For all matters not covered in the above policy, the Placement Office will use its discretion to take appropriate decisions as and when required.

The above guidelines are to ensure a smooth process in the best interest of our students and the participating companies.
