Overview
An initiative set up by Mount Carmel College to foster innovation and entrepreneurship culture among the students, faculty, and alumni to enable them to transform their business ideas into reality. The centre aspires to develop individual talent, skills and personality to give each business the best possible start, thus fostering entrepreneurship at a local and national level.
The objective of the centre is to offer unique and incentivized solutions, which will encourage students and faculties to ideate and design novel solutions. The centre will provide a supportive entrepreneurial environment that accelerates the successful development of start-up companies through an array of adequate resources and services. Our main goal is to produce successful firms that will leave the centre financially viable and freestanding.

Objectives
- Develop outreach programs to increase awareness about entrepreneurship and its potential impact.
- Organize events, workshops, and guest lectures to inspire and motivate individuals to explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Offer comprehensive training programs covering various aspects of entrepreneurship, including ideation, business planning, market research, and financial management.
- Provide access to resources such as online courses, entrepreneurial libraries, and mentorship networks to enhance entrepreneurial skills and knowledge.

Functions
- To organize workshops and seminars on various aspects of entrepreneurship, including idea generation, business planning, marketing strategies, and financial management.
- To invite successful entrepreneurs, industry experts, and investors to share their experiences and insights with students.
- To establish mentorship programs where experienced entrepreneurs and professionals mentor students, providing guidance, advice, and support throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
- To offer coaching sessions to help students develop essential entrepreneurial skills and overcome challenges.
- To provide incubation support for student-led ventures, offering resources such as office space, access to networks, legal assistance, and technical support.
- To offer acceleration programs designed to fast-track the growth and development of promising startup ventures through intensive mentoring, networking opportunities, and access to funding.
- To organize networking events, mixers, and pitch competitions to facilitate connections among students, alumni, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry professionals.
- To host entrepreneurial competitions and challenges where students can pitch their business ideas, receive feedback from judges, and compete for prizes and recognition.
- To encourage interdisciplinary collaboration by organizing challenges that require students from different fields to work together to solve real-world problems.
- To establish an entrepreneurship resource center and library stocked with books, articles, case studies, and online resources covering various aspects of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business management.
- To provide access to tools, software, databases, and market research reports to support students in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
- To launch social impact initiatives and projects that address pressing social, environmental, and economic challenges, encouraging students to develop ventures with a purpose beyond profit.
- To collaborate with community organizations, NGOs, and government agencies to identify opportunities for students to make a positive impact through their ventures.

President
- Holds an important position and is in contact with MOE Innovation Cell.
- Responsible to ensure a decent performance of IIC and will respond to all the communication from IIC National Coordination Team (MOE Innovation Cell).
- Bearer of the IIC portal Login ID and will be the custodian of IIC portal login and data/ reports uploaded therein.
Vice President
- Takes the role of building and strengthening the in-house mentor pool and human resource capacity to drive campus Innovation and Entrepreneurship activities.
- Augment infrastructure support and facilities to encourage innovation and enabling environment of easy access to resources within and outside the institute.
- Strengthen the intra and interinstitutional partnership and collaboration with ecosystem at different levels and creation of new program interventions.
Convener
- Work in close coordination with the IIC President and will provide assistance wherever needed for the smooth conduct of activities.
- Ensure the participation in the meeting and will prepare the meeting agenda at least 10 days prior, taking valuable inputs from all the council members and President.
- Documentation and maintenance of the proceedings like photographs and minutes of the meetings.
- Ensure that the internal examination dates would not clash with the IIC activities by ably coordinating with all the departments.
- Collect ideas from all the members of the council at regular intervals, especially external members for better planning of IIC activities and effective delivery of results.
Social Media Co-ordinator
- Create and manage the IIC page/account on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and other relevant social media platforms.
- Post all the relevant information about the council meeting resolution and action plan, IIC activities and follow/tag MIC/IIC page and posts on these platforms.
- Make sure that all the students follow MIC/IIC page/account on social media to get first-hand information.
- Upload meeting videos in the Institution YouTube Channel and share the link with competent authorities.
Start-up Activity Co-ordinator
- Identifying and guiding potential/early-stage entrepreneurs, student innovators at the Institute on a regular basis.
- Build an important group of motivated students and faculty members with a creative potential, Entrepreneurial orientation and skillset.
- Encourage faculty members and students to pursue research studies related to Entrepreneurship.
IPR Activity Co-ordinator
- Organize events on IPR related activities as per IIC calendar and plan awareness programmes on a regular basis.
- Coordinate with IPR Cell to generate revenue from patents, copyrights, trade secrets and others.
- Commercialize innovations through technology transfer, technology licensing and Start-ups, etc.
Members
- Ensure the Institution’s Innovation Council’s logo and the words “in association with Institution’s Innovation Council, Ministry of Education (MOE), Govt. of India”, is included in the brochure without fail for all the academic activities of their respective departments like webinars, seminars and workshops related to Industry Interaction, Start-up, Entrepreneurship, Research and Innovation/Intellectual Property Rights (IPRS).
- Establish Innovation Clubs for students with all the facilities and equipment need Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) in their respective departments.
- Develop an Innovative and Entrepreneurial mindset through a series of activities like workshops, awareness, market outreach events, orientation, advocacy meetings, campus hackathons and networking events (Intra and Interinstitutional, enablers, stakeholders).
- Develop short term certificate courses on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
- Persuade departments to offer Major or Minor Specializations or credit courses related to Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) and IPR.
- Organize entrepreneurial development/employment skill generating programmes for external participants (local residents, community members, alumni etc.).
- Procure grants from Government and Non-Govt. Bodies towards promoting and supporting innovations.
- IIC at Mount Carmel College, is a very vibrant platform to organise various events related to entrepreneurship, Innovation, IPR and start-up for the benefits of the faculty and students’ community. Due to these various activities, students get various opportunities to participate in events and gain entrepreneurial knowledge and enable them to start their own venture. I attended innovation Ambassador training programs and gained insights into various topics related to entrepreneurship and Innovation- Dr. Shanthi S, Dean of Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

I. Achievements
- Received 3.5/5 stars for the various activities /events conducted in the year 19-20.
- MOU signed with CIMSME for setting up of Centre of Excellence in the campus.
- 2 students prototypes nominated for National Innovation contest got selected and they are selected for 2 level of mentoring (2020).
II. Activities during lockdown
- Faculty attended IIC Online Sessions conducted by Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of MHRD’s Innovation Cell, New Delhi to promote Innovation, IPR, Entrepreneurship, and Start-ups among HEIs from 28th April to 22nd May 2020.
- Faculty and students attended leadership talk series organised by MHRD IIC in May , June and July 2020 ( on every Saturday).
