INTERNATIONAL TWINNING PROGRAMME IN M. SC TOURISM MANAGEMENT  

TOURISM ASSOCIATION:

Department organizes Intercollegiate Fest: Annual Fest: IRE FESTUMVenture into the Unknown” Apart from fest Workshop, National and International conferences will be organized annually

INTERNATIONAL LINKAGE

Department will offer Post Graduate course M.Sc Tourism in association with Binary University Malaysia as a Twinning Program. Students will study First year of M.Sc Tourism in MCC and final year to be completed in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Binary University will offer the degree

Research Activities

  • Management Funded Research Project: Topic: “A Study on the Untapped Potential of Antargange as a Tourist Spot.”  Ms Sneha. N – Principal Investigator along with Ms Prathiksha Muthappa  (Final Year BMTT) &  Marina Thomas (Final Year BA-HJTT).

Students who enrol for the course have to prepare the following:

  • Educational Tour Report with Viva Voce in Third semester.
  • Amadeus CRS training in Fourth semester.
  • Summer Internship Report with Viva voce in Fifth Semester
  • Research paper on Tourism related topic in Final Semester

NOTE: Students must compulsorily undertake a one week industrial tour in the first year and Six weeks of summer internship after second year to prepare Reports. Both of these are mandatory for successful completion of the course. Students can pursue higher education or get placed in Travel Agencies, Companies, Hotels and any service oriented Organisations.

Bachelor of Vocational Course in Hospitality & Tourism (BHT)

This is a UGC sponsored vocational course with skill training as per National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).

Eligibility: 10+2 PASS With 60% marks Student must be proficient with General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

Note: Following are compulsory as per Bangalore University for course completion

  • Students must undertake an Educational Tour to write Tour Report.
  • Students must undertake 06weeks Summer Internship after second year final exams.
  • All students have to wear uniform with blazers for prescribed practical classes.

  • Students of Tourism Association has own overall trophy in TURAS 2017 Intercollegiate Fest organized by SJCC, Bangalore
  • Students of Tourism Association has own overall trophy in Crescensia 2017 intercollegiate Fest organized by St Claret College, Bangalore
  • 38 students of Mount Carmel College participated in all events, Tourism as well as Non-Tourism, and won the Overall Championship Trophy in ALTA VISTA Intercollegiate Fest organized by Christ University.
  • Students of Tourism Association has own overall trophy in Grand Torino 2018 Intercollegiate Fest organized by JNC, Bangalore

Intercollegiate Fest: Annual Fest: IRE FESTUM “Venture into the Unknown

  • One day Intercollegiate Fest–IRE FESTUMwas held on 13Jan2012. Mr.Viswanath Reddy IAS Director Department of Tourism GOK was Chief Guest. Jyoti Nivas College won the Overall Trophy.
  • Organized Intercollegiate competition on behalf of the Department of Tourism Government of Karnataka to celebrate WORLD TOURISM DAY Theme “Tourism Linking Cultures”
  • One day Inter collegiate Fest – IRE FESTUM – Theme:”The Big Fat Indian Wedding”was held on 05 Dec 2012. Mr.Jyothi Prakash, Airport Manager, Air India BIAL was the Chief Guest. Mr.Raghavan, Secretary TAAI, Bangalore Chapter attended the Valedictory function to distribute prizes. Christ University won the overall trophy.
  • One day Intercollegiate Fest–IRE FESTUM- Theme:”Film Tourism- A tribute to 100 years of Indian Cinema”was held on 28thNov 2013. Mr.Rajendra Babu, Kannada Film Director inaugurated and Ms.Sonia Gowda Kannada Actress distributed prizes. St Joseph College of Commerce, Bangalore won the overall trophy.
  • One day Intercollegiate Fest – IRE FESTUM – Theme:”Digital Tourism” was held on 08th February 2016. St Joseph College of Commerce Bangalore won the overall trophy.

Seminars & Conferences

  • One Day National Seminar on: “Water Climate Tourism – is it a boon or bane to mankind & economic environment? On Wednesday11th September 2013, jointly organised in co-ordination with Department of Environmental Science. Seminar was sponsored by the Department of Tourism Government of Karnataka. The seminar proceedings were published with ISBN Number both in Printed & EBook format.
  • ONE DAY CONFERENCE on ‘Role Of Swatchata In Indian Tourism’ in association with FKCCI on 09th February 2015. Chief Guest Mr. R.V Deshpande, Honorable Minister of Tourism & Education, Government of Karnataka presided the conference.
  • One day Symposium on “Impact of Travel Automation in Hospitality & Tourism” on 08th Feb 2016.

Travel and Tourism students are recruited in Hospitality industry like BIAL, Thomas Cook , Make my trip, Oberoi Hotels, ITC Group of Hotels, Orange County Cox & Kings IATA travel agentsto name a few. They can also peruse higher education of M.Com, MA, MTTM, MBA
